A world that wraps you up in its warm, hypnotic atmosphere as soon as you step in. Twenty-eight years after it started its adventure in Paris, at a time when the city was particularly dynamic and open to experiment, L’ECLAIREUR shines even brighter with its fifth shop at Aoyama, Tokyo. Martine and Armand Hadida have been as far-sighted as to rely on labels that would become successful classic lines over the years, but have at the same time always stuck to research on creativity and innovation. The concept store that Armand Hadida has created in Tokyo follows L’Eclaireur’s spirit and tradition by merging art and shopping, materials and their imagination. The delicate display of select clothing is deliberately contrasted with rich colourful surfaces in an interplay of voids and solids, and the impact made by the contrast resembles that of a modern art gallery, with its wealth of warm materials and carefully selected colours. A hearty welcome is also suggested by the lighting system, that warms up the fabrics by projecting the shadows of the items from above; an atmosphere that invites visitors to draw close and touch, to let fall the barrier between themselves and the articles on display. In this world, luxury is something special to enjoy little by little; it is perceivable in the fitting of huge, hundred-year-old shutters in colonial style brought over from Paris; it is something that can be perceived in the garden, specially designed to recall the seasons of the year; it is something that stands for welcome and relax, and involves visitors like the rite of coffee. Harmony and inspiration can also be seen in the works of the stylists selected by Armand Hadida, ‘hidden treasures’ as he has termed them, for an innovative wardrobe in which formerly unknown labels have now become outstanding in accordance with L’Eclaireur’s tradition. A few models exclusively designed for L’Eclaireur by Santacroce, Gianni Barbato, Christian Peau and Isaac Sellam enhance the precious look of the store.
