| Designed to fit the courtyard outside the store, Sottorete is a modular, adjustable canopy made of wire netting. The design conception and the choice of materials came from the suggestiveness of the artistically renowned historical site, and from its many-sided functionality which enables it to be a place for meeting, lingering, contemplating as well as for music and cultural events. The project blends emotional and spatial values, such as the shading covering, the seats and the scenographic wing obtained through sinuous, adjustable forms provided by a single structural element, wire netting. The canopy allows the view of the domes of Treviso's Cathedral above the back of the yard, emphasises their presence and creates different suggestions on account of its light and shade effects. By contributing to this project, Metalco, a leading firm in the production of street furniture and in the field of design, have accepted a new challenge: to realise a greatly evocative, strongly emotional work in collaboration with the world of contemporary art. The relevance of the project, coupled with the firm's knowledge of materials, their skilful building precision and accurate execution of detail will give the work an unquestionably architectural quality. www.gruppoa12.org |
