Sweet Melissa

Born in the 70's from the company Grendene, the world's leading company in the creation and production of plastic shoes, the brand Melissa has become synonymous with fashion. Attentive to details and trends, Melissa has always related to a young audience. Bold and dynamic with rich colorful creations and unique stylistic interpretations are Melissa's trademark characteristics. Plastic, in the hands of her designers, has acquired a certain status and value, and become their own medium of communication.

In the late 90's, Melissa re-invented herself and rediscovered her talents, by collaborating with internationally recognized fashion designers. Nowadays Melissa continues to invest in this kind of collaboration, working with such designers as the Campana Brothers, Karim Rashid, Gloria Coehlo, Alexandre Herchcovitch, and Judy Blame. Herchcovitch, in particular, is a designer who manages to transform the classic into contemporary, simplicity into glamour; and in the last two years has developed several Melissa models with great success. Likewise, Blame, known for creating jewellery of found objects in the days gone by of the Kensington Market, makes him an ideal creative match for Melissa. The London designer inspired by the whimsical and bizarre is now creating Melissa special editions.
