The London Cut’ is a project in three parts: an exhibition, a book and a showcase. The exhibition, laid out in the Palazzo Pitti apartments of the Duchess of Aosta, will re-create the atmosphere of Savile Row, the traditional street of tailors, where workshops and stores still display renowned brands of gentlemen’s wear. Villa Vittoria, instead, will be the frame for the showcase where visitors can have a taste of Made-in-London bespoke items and smart collections, the outcome of a two-century tradition. Those who dare go further will find TOUCH, Pitti’s new project open to the new language of experiment and know how in dressing, but also to a modern taste defined in terms of freedom and contamination. As an interpretation of the most updated trends in contemporary elegance, Touch proposes a layout entirely in department-store style created by Oliviero Baldini in the Sala della Ronda of Fortezza da Basso. Here items follow one another in lively interplay based on ever new matches, attracting buyers and visitors from over 25 different collections. This edition of Pitti Immagine is focused on the pleasure of dressing and on the dressing skills that can be acquired by choosing among 664 exhibitors, for a total of 755 brands and over 30 new names. If Welcome to my House keeps devoting its attention to young independent firms’ street wear verging on street culture, sport and art, the New Beats’ focus is on new talents’ debuts, whereas at Santa Maria Novella, Rooms n. 5 welcomes visitors with its expression of contemporary luxury.
