Teresa Bonaventura - Wood sculptor

Teresa Bonaventura is born in the Venice province in 1956. The daughter of a joiner, she has always found in natural wood the answer to a striving for form and its essence, the object of her research and work.
The technique of carving is something she learns on her own and which she improves to compete with other wood sculptors at ‘Symposia' in Italy and abroad.
The credit she has been given encourages her to continue her hard formal and emotional research through sculpture.
Teresa Bonaventura lives and works at Noale (Venice).

"Torn between spirit and matter, between figure and concept, the artist allows emotions to pervade her mind to translate them into form. There is something ecstatic, magic and absolute in her figures softly and fluently outlined. Rationality prevails when she tries new experiments, when the concept prevails over form orienting glances and emotions."
L. Majer

"The cult of antiquity, the charm of nature and her great plastic sensibility are the main features of Teresa Bonaventura's works. Her ‘Presenze' are modern Kores who witness the passing of time withdrawn in their moving inner composure. Free from stereotypes and mannerisms Teresa Bonaventura's achievement is an expressive maturity emphasised by her highly allusive and symbolic carving details."
