Wrangler - Blue Bell

The collaboration between American brand Wrangler and Japanese designer Minoru Watanabe was sparked by their communal obsession and passion for authentic denim. Together they have created a new collection of limited edition denim for Blue Bell by Wrangler, which is dedicated to re-introducing classic products that reflect the brand's heritage.

Wrangler Blue Bell

The 11MW model, from 1952, is a style of jeans that set a milestone in the history of denim. Over time this model has evolved thanks to more effective and reliable production methods. However, all versions retain such Wrangler icons as: 7 belt loops, Rodeo Ben Watch pocket, and the Claw Foot W, which are all synonymous with the evolution of denim. The original versions of these jeans also marked the beginning of Wrangler's famous rolled rope logo which appears on the leather patch on the right back pocket. Also printed on the patch is the phrase "authentic western jeans", one of the most important phrases in the history of denim. The packaging of this line has an illustration which is also shown on the classic yellow plaster, a photo of a 1950's rodeo champion. The rodeo tradition is carried on by Wrangler to the present day.

From the 1920's through the 1950's, sanforized fabrics, proportioned fits, rugged, lasting fabrics and assembly gave Blue Bell by Wrangler a competitive position in the denim work wear market. The Screw Driver Western Jean honors this aspect of Wrangler's history by combining western wear and work wear, the two most characteristic traits of Wrangler jeans. Details include classic 5 pocket detailing, a screwdriver leg pocket, and lined tool proof back pockets. These are details only a jeans connoiseur would be concerned with, yet the original Wrangler's set a precendent that is undeniable to popular culture.
