Junko Sakayori

Dopo esser diventata una modellista provetta presso una grande azienda, la designer Junko Sakayori ha dato vita all’omonimo brand. Dalla stagione Primavera-Estate 2004 i pratici e altamente tecnici abiti a motivi Sakayori hanno acquisito un look femminile. Un dato interessante è che la stilista ha solo un’idea molto vaga quando avvia la creazione delle sue collezioni, e fa ogni sorta di tentativi tecnici su un tessuto fino ad individuare lo stile migliore dopo infiniti esperimenti. Poiché Sakayori considera una “bellezza coincidente” importante per il suo marchio, il suo concept è che “non ci si può aspettare nulla dall’assolutezza”, e ciò a quanto pare si accorda con la sua originalità. Il tema della Stagione Autunno-Inverno 2009-2010 è “Arty Jumble” (Mescolanza Pseudoartistica). Lustrini, frange, fronzoli, merletti e altri ornamenti vengono artisticamente mescolati e usati come decorazione principale della collezione. Elementi quali un corsetto, un fronzolo, un’increspatura scaturiscono dalla mescolanza di molti altri elementi. Il marchio è sensibile alle tematiche ambientali e ha messo sul mercato anche una linea ecocompatibile nelle ultime stagioni. L’idea fondamentale che sta alla base di questi capi è di riutilizzare in qualche modo la stoffa avanzata. Dopo aver tagliato le parti principali degli abiti da un pezzo di tessuto, vengono ricavati dei dischi dal tessuto avanzato con i quali si confezionano dei fiori o delle piccole sfere a forma di bonbon da applicare sulla scollatura o sul vestito. Sakayori forse ha un look semplice e reale, ma molti addetti alla moda hanno già osservato che la semplicità non è affatto sinonimo di facilità.

After becoming an experienced pattern-maker at a major brand, the designer Junko Sakayori has started her own brand called “sakayori”.
 From the 2004 Spring-Summer season sakayori.’s highly technical, patterned, practical clothes have acquired a feminine air.
 An interesting point is that she has only a very rough idea when she starts the creation of her collections. She makes all sorts of technical trials on a fabric until she finds the best style after uncountable experiments. As the stylist considers ‘a coincident beauty’ important for her brand, its concept is “nothing can be expected from absoluteness”, and this agrees with her originality, apparently.
 The theme of the 2009-2010 Autumn-Winter season is ‘Arty Jumble’. Spangles, fringes, frills, laces and other ornaments are artistically jumbled together and used as the main decoration of the collection. Even such elements as a corsage, a frill or a ruffle are made from a jumble of many other elements.
 Sakayori. also grapples with ecological issues, and has released an eco series in the last few seasons. 
The basic idea that such items embody is to re-use disposable materials in some way. In this collection, after cutting the main parts of clothes from a piece of fabric, they cut circles from the leftover fabric with which they make a flower or a small sphere to apply around the neckline of a dress.
Sakayori. perhaps looks simple and real, but many fashion people have already noticed that simplicity is not synonymous with easiness at all.
