Rozae Nichols Convertible

Con al suo attivo l’affermata collezione indumenti donna firmata e la linea secondaria A Common Thread, Rozae Nichols ha ora ulteriormente ampliato la sua concezione dello stile nell’abbigliamento creando una linea in jersey, Rozae Nichols Convertible. L’idea della collezione  è derivata dalla forza dei capi in jersey della sua collezione principale, che la Nichols voleva illustrare e valorizzare. Alla sua terza stagione, la collezione RNC è stata lanciata nella stagione A/W 2005-6 ed è stata assai bene accolta. La Nichols dice che “ la RNC è cominciata come collezione di semplice product design, non fashion design, super funzionale e dotata di grande vestibilità,” basandosi sull’idea che “il buon design è qualcosa che si possa trovare e che ci si possa permettere”. La collezione è realizzata in quattro tessuti, il più importante dei quali è un jersey pettinato, una viscosa soffice con lucentezza metallica, un semplice jersey a coste in poliestere che dà al tatto la sensazione di cashmere, e un jersey stampato con audaci e moderni motivi grafici. A volte la Nichols è spinta a fare materiali più trendy, ma per natura rifugge di norma da questa tendenza. La RNC segue questo secondo indirizzo per stile e identità, piuttosto che cercar di essere alla moda. Tutti i motivi della RNC hanno un uso multifunzionale e molti di essi sono rovesciabili, sicché chi porta un capo RNC può fornire una sua interpretazione personale e usare veramente gli indumenti,  non solamente indossarli. Questi capi si espandono, inseriscono e sovrappongono sulla collezione principale con la complementarietà dei loro toni cromatici e adattandosi ai movimenti del corpo. La Nichols dice che la RNC “risponde a un problema pratico delle donne che sono alla ricerca di un modo credibile per curare la propria persona.”

With her established signature women’s wear collection, and secondary line A Common Thread, Rozae Nichols has yet again expanded her vision for clothing design by creating a jersey line, Rozae Nichols Convertible. The concept for the line was first conceived from the strength of the jersey pieces in her main collection, which Nichols wanted to highlight and give their own merit. Now going into its 3rd season, the RNC collection was launched in A/W 2005-06 and has had a great reception. Nichols says that, “RNC started as a group of pure product design, super functional and very wearable, not ‘fashion’”, and based on the belief that “good design should be available and affordable”.The collection is made up of 4 fabrics: the primary of which is a brush jersey, a drapey viscose with a matte sheen, a sheer ribbed jersey in polyester that has a cashmere hand, and a printed jersey with bold modern graphics. At times Nichols gets pressure to do trendier material but by nature goes against that grain. RNC is more so about design and identity than being trendy. All of the RNC designs have a multi-functional use and many are reversible so that the person wearing RNC can make their own interpretation and really use the garments, not just wear them. These pieces expand on Nichols’ main collection by layering in and over in complementary color ways, and are adapted to the movement of the body. Nichols says that RNC “answers a practical issue for women looking for a reliable way of putting themselves together.”
