Woolrich 180° Anniversary

Woolrich John Rich & Bros. festeggia i 180 anni con una prestigiosa collaborazione con Douglas Kirkland. Il celebre fotografo americano ha scelto di celebrare il marchio attraverso una serie di ritratti: 18 sono le personalità del mondo dello spettacolo e della musica americana chiamate ad interpretare l’iconico Woolrich Arctic Parka e 2 i diversi tipi di immagine, uno scatto digitale e un primo piano bianco e nero in pellicola 8×10. Tra i soggetti fotografati: il famoso produttore Benedict Coutler, il giornalista Daniele Mastrogiacomo, le attrici Dominik Garcia (figlia di Andy Garcia), Elle Fanning (protagonista di Somewhere di Sophia Coppola) e Jenn Proske, il musicista G-Mac brown, il produttore Lawrence Bender, gli attori Gabriel Garko, Brendan Fraser e Danny Houston, la modella Aimee Mullins, l’artista Erika Lemay, la fotografa Lauren Greenfield, il co-presidente di Marvel Studios Louis D’Esposito. Douglas Kirkland ha iniziato la sua carriera negli Anni ’60-’70 presso Look e Life, ha lavorato sul set di centinaia di film hollywoodiani, tra cui “Butch Cassidy”, “La mia Africa”, “Titanic,” “Moulin Rouge” e “Australia”. Sono celebri i suoi iconici ritratti di Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, Jack Nicholson, Angelina Jolie e Antonio Banderas, tra le tante celebrities immortalate negli anni. Durante la sua lunga carriera, Kirkland ha ricevuto numerosi riconoscimenti come il Lifetime Achievement Award, il Premio Lucie, il premio russo L’occhio d’oro e un Lifetime Achievement Award da CAPIC della sua nativa Toronto, nel maggio 2006. Nel 2008 Vanity Fair Italia ha organizzato una grande retrospettiva della sua opera presso il prestigioso Museo della Triennale di Milano. Le trentasei immagini, già presentate ufficialmente in Italia in occasione della settimana della moda Donna, presso il WP Store di Milano, saranno esposte successivamente presso i migliori negozi e department stores internazionali.

The famous American photographer has chosen to celebrate the brand with a series of portraits: eighteen celebrities in American music and showbiz to interpret the iconic Woolrich Arctic Parka with two different types of images, a digital shot and a black and white 8×10 film close-up. The people in the pictures are among others: the famous producer Benedict Coutler, the journalist Daniele Mastrogiacomo, the actresses Dominik Garcia ( the daughter of Andy Garcia), Elle Fanning (the protagonist of Somewhere by Sophia Coppola), and Jenn Proske, the musician G-Mac Brown, the producer Lawrence Bender, the actors Gabriel Garko, Brendan Fraser and Danny Houston, the model Aimee Mullins, the artist Erika Lemay, the photographer Lauren Greenfield, and the co-president of Marvel Studios, Louis D’Esposito. Douglas Kirkland started his career in the Sixties and Seventies with ‘Look’ and ‘Life’, and has worked on the set of hundreds of Hollywood films among which “Butch Cassidy, My Africa, Titanic, Moulin Rouge and Australia. Over the years, he has been the author of the iconic portraits of celebrities like Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, Jack Nicholson, Angelina Jolie and Antonio Banderas. Throughout his long career, Kirkland has been awarded countless prizes like the Lifetime Achievement Award, the Lucie Prize, the Russian prize The Golden Eye, and a Lifetime Achievement Award granted by CAPIC in his native Toronto in May 2006. In 2008 Vanity Fair Italia held a retrospective exhibition of his works at the Milan-based prestigious Museum of the Triennial.
