I pantaloni Cargo fanno il loro ingresso nel mondo dell’abbigliamento informale in Inghilterra, tra la fine degli Anni ’70 e i primissimi ’80. Grazie alla grande praticità derivante dalle loro tasche laterali e dai tessuti altamente confortevoli, essi divengono presto parte integrante del casual e dello sportswear. L’ispirazione per questi pantaloni viene dai modelli impiegati negli anni ’40 dalle truppe di paracadutisti dell’esercito e dalla particolare esigenza di questi soldati di avere sempre con sé numerosi accessori, senza però essere, in alcun modo, impediti nei movimenti.
Da alcuni anni i Cargo fanno parte delle proposte estive del marchio Hox, con dei modelli che mantengono, sia nella versione maschile che femminile, tutti gli elementi tipici di questi pantaloni di derivazione militare: dalle triple cuciture, in grado di garantirne un’elevata resistenza, ereditate dall’abbigliamento da lavoro, all’impiego di un corposo tessuto di gabardine. Il lavaggio “old” conferisce a questi capi un aspetto vissuto, così come le particolari rovinature del tessuto, tutte ottenute manualmente, confermano l’inequivocabile carattere rugged di questi pantaloni. E se nella donna si sceglie di utilizzare un morbido tessuto a bastoncino, per le versioni corte dei cargo è stato invece preferito un microcanvas di gabardine. Le coulisse, poste all’altezza della vita e del ginocchio, sono motivo di ulteriore praticità nell’utlizzo estivo di questi bermuda, proposti in tinta unita, camouflage e in differenti motivi a righe, “check” e floreali, per un pubblico più giovane.
Cargo trousers made their appearance in the world of informal wear in England between the late Seventies and the early Eighties, and thanks to their practical side pockets and the softness of materials they soon entered the world of casual clothing and sportswear. The trousers drew on the models used in the ‘40s by the army’s paratroopers who needed to bring along countless accessories while keeping their freedom of movement. For a few years Cargo trousers have been among the summer proposals of the brand Hox, with models which preserve, both in the men’s and women’s versions, all of the typical features of these military-inspired trousers: from the triple seams borrowed from work wear, which guarantee high resistance, to the strong gabardine fabric they are made of. The “old” washing technique gives the trousers a worn look, just as the hand-made tears emphasise their rugged character. If the women’s models come in a soft ribbed fabric, the short versions of Cargos are in gabardine micro canvas. The ‘coulisses’ at the waist and knee further increase the practicality for summer use of these Bermuda shorts which are proposed in plain colour, camouflage and different striped designs, check and floral, for the younger public. Note: the name ‘cargo’ (which means ‘load’) is due to the great loading capacity of the side pockets of these trousers.
