Anna Orsini che dirige l’ufficio Internazionale del London Fashion Week, il più prestigioso evento di moda inglese, ci parla degli ideali di moda e bellezza d’oltremanica. “La moda inglese si basa sulla creatività, sul principio di portare le proprie idee al limite e questo spesso coincide, anche se solo con ironia, con lo sfidare i canoni stabiliti. Per questo la moda inglese non è il risultato di un equazione moda = bellezza. I due concetti si rincorrono, si sfuggono, ma è interessante notare che spesso da questo incontro / scontro è l’idea stessa della bellezza a risultarne sempre rinnovata ed a portare la moda a fare un altro passo in avanti”. “Ultimamente i designers che mi hanno colpito di più sono quelli per cui il lusso non è ostentazione o volgarità ma il risultato di una ricerca, di un lavoro personale basato sui materiali, sui dettagli. Tra questi mi vengono in mente Jonathan Saunders, Bora Aksu, Jens Laugesen, Boudicca e Sophia Kokosalaki ma anche altre collezioni più di nicchia come per esempio la Petite Saloppe, Simeon Farrar, Linda Farrow, Georgina Goodman”.

Anna Orsini, the International Office Director of London Fashion Week, the most prestigious magazine on event in British fashion, talks to us about the Island’s British designer’s ideals of fashion and beauty.‘British fashion is based on creativity, on the principle that ideas must be carried as far ahead as possible although and this often means to ironically challenge established canons. That is why British fashion is not the result of the equation fashion = beauty. Two elusive, non-converging concepts, whose dynamics, interestingly, always brings about a renewal of the idea of beauty and urges fashion on to further progress. The designers that have lately struck me most are the ones who believe that luxury doesn’t mean ostentation or vulgarity, but is the outcome of research and personal work on materials and details. Among those who come to my mind are: Jonathan Saunders, Bora Aksu, Jen Laugesen, Boudicca and Sophia Kokosalaki, but also such more typically niche collections as la Petite Saloppe, Simeon Farrar, Linda Farrow, Georgina Goodman”. “London fashion often starts in the street where it always returns after having been reinterpreted by stylists, by influencing the world of the young, their way of living and their relationship with visuality.”
