Sparco
Sfruttando una metafora autostradale possiamo dire che le gare rallystiche si trovano qualche casello più vicino a noi rispetto a quelle della F1, perchè lì è possibile vedere auto dall’aspetto quotidiano (o quasi) ma con notevoli differenze sotto il cofano.
E’ il 1977 e in anni di crisi petrolifera il mondo guarda con occhi appassionati quanto invidiosi questi pochi fortunati che possono sgommare e premere la tavoletta, perdere benzina sbandando in curva, saltare sui dossi come fanno le moto da cross e talvolta anche esser premiati.
Ci sono però due piloti che capiscono i rischi ai quali sono esposti, all’epoca non si badava tanto a criteri e regolamenti di sicurezza mancando ancora qualche anno ai terribili incidenti che di lì a poco avrebbero segnato il destino di molti talenti e vergato intere pagine, se non addirittura libri, di leggende automobilistiche. Consapevoli quindi della pericolosità delle conseguenze di un incidente, Enrico Glorioso e Antonio Parisi fondano Sparco e realizzano una tuta ignifuga per piloti. In breve tempo alle tute si affiancano scarpe, guanti, caschi, sedili e Sparco inizia a guadagnare fiducia e rispetto in tutti gli ambienti delle gare automobilistiche. Oggi l’azienda torinese presenta Laboratoire 77, una nuova linea di abbigliamento pensata per chi anche se le gare automobilistiche le guarda su Sky, poi vuole indossare qualcosa che gli ricordi il rombo della Lancia che spunta all’ingresso del tornante. All’abbigliamento di ogni giorno, Sparco non ha portato soltanto l’estetica del mondo racing ma fortunatamente, anche i materiali come la cordura e le finiture come le spalline rinforzate, in ogni capo i dettagli funzionali più caratteristici sono replicati dalle rispettive versioni da competizione.
Una curiosità, quante aziende del mondo racing possono vantare come recapito un’autostrada?
Sparco ad esempio, ha pensato bene di realizzare il proprio quartiere generale al Km 0,500 della Torino Milano.

It is a time when safety regulations are not so strict, many talented pilots will presently be doomed by terrible accidents and become a legend in countless articles and books. Yet, two pilots, Enrico Glorioso and Antonio Parisi, aware of the risks they are running, establish SPARCO and realise a fireproof racing suit for pilots. Suits are soon followed by shoes, gloves, crash helmets and seats while Sparco secures the confidence and respect of the motor racing milieu. Today the Turin-based company presents ‘Laboratoire 77′, a new line of clothing items designed for people who may watch car races on Sky TV but want to wear something reminiscent of a roaring Lancia looming out of a bend.
Car racing style is not the only contribution Sparco have made to everyday clothing; they have also introduced materials like cordura and finishings like strengthened shoulder-straps; furthermore, typically functional details in each item are repeated in the corresponding racing versions.
For the sake of curiosity: how many companies in the world of racing can claim they have a motorway as an address? Sparco thought it was convenient for them to set up their headquarters 0.5 km down the Turin-Milan motorway.
