Trippen- A modern design combines enviromental friendliness, sustainability and social responsability.
Contrary to popular opinion that these days economic success could only be achieved when a company denies responsibility for the production, Trippen proves the opposite: a modern design combines environmental friendliness, sustainability and social responsibility. For more than 10 years now Trippen has been successful with this concept. Besides its own stores in Germany, Japan and Iceland, there are over 350 shops worldwide that carry Trippen shoes. Co-operations with other well-known designers like Issey Miyake and a number of international Product Design Awards underline this success. Rather than to simply modify existing designs or to follow short-lived trends, Trippen searches for new solutions. Inspired by future developments, the designs take tendencies in fashion on board, but do not submit to permanent changes. The shape of lasts and sole units as well as the types of materials remains unmodified. To come up with new ideas based on the same principles over and over again requires a lot of creativity. The challenge lies in the pattern technique. Over the years Trippen has developed a very characteristic style here that has nothing in common with a traditional shoe pattern. These unique pattern experiments form the basis of every collection. The new designs are supplemented by modish colour schemes. The collections are not replaced every season, but existing styles remain available. Since the beginning, in the early 90’s, designer Angela Spieth and bespoke shoemaker Michael Oehler had the idea to design shoes in which individual components could be exchanged and replaced. Environmental standards and ecological production methods are not only taken into consideration, but have a direct influence on the design. The result is a sustainable product, which at the same time offers a great variety for the consumer. The collections are designed in such a way that also small quantities can be produced in Germany and Italy at competitive prices. The short distance to the production allows to give attention to customer requests and at the same time guarantee a short delivery time. Social responsibility is another main aspect in the corporate philosophy. Trippen therefore supports a local production. With the construction of their own Trippen factory 80km north of Berlin, not only transport can be reduced to a minimum, but new jobs are created in a region otherwise lacking in infrastructure. All other manufacturing takes place in small family businesses in Northern Italy.Only in these small productions, to which there exists a close personal contact, the work environment can be actively improved. This complex concept is the basis for Trippen’s ongoing success.
