ELIO FIORUCCI – LA TRIENNALE DI MILANO

Among industry professionals and beyond, merely mentioning ‘Fiorucci’ immediately evokes thoughts of the past, the nostalgic past, which, for those who experienced it, should have naturally become the future.Perhaps this might seem a rather bold consideration, but the fact remains that Elio Fiorucci, through his multifaceted strategy, was able to define futuristic visions that shaped a certain idea of the future.

This exhibition, promoted by the Triennale di Milano – open until 16 March 2025 – explores the figure of Elio Fiorucci from a dual perspective: the more personal and human one and the entrepreneurial one. It recounts his loving approach to the world, always characterised by a hint of transgression and nonconformism. These distinctive elements have made Fiorucci a unique and iconic brand that has revolutionised the fashion world, becoming a source of inspiration for many generations, and not just for designers.

The exhibition, curated by Judith Clark and designed by Fabio Cherstich, presents in chronological order materials from both private personal archives and large-scale and industrial archives, outlining Fiorucci’s special aesthetic.
Closing with a statement by Stefano Boeri, President of the Triennale di Milano: ‘By invading the gloomy Milan of the 1970s with colours and shapes and then exporting his chromatic comet to the world, Elio Fiorucci gave his city the gift of a past in international creativity’.
